Travel Town: What is the Inventory?
Your board's best friend is the Inventory. Learn how this crucial tool helps you organize, strategize, and progress faster.
One of the biggest challenges in Travel Town isn't just merging items; it's managing the limited space on your game board. A cluttered board can stop your progress dead in its tracks. This is where your Inventory comes in—it's the single most powerful tool for bringing order to the chaos. Think of it as your own personal safe deposit box, right on your screen.
But the Inventory is much more than just a storage closet. For expert players, it’s a strategic asset that enables smarter, more efficient gameplay. This guide will teach you not only the basics of the Inventory but also the pro-level strategies for using it.
Where to Find Your Inventory and How It Works
You can find your Inventory (sometimes called the "Pouch" or "Storage") in the bottom-left corner of your screen. It looks like an open treasure chest or a small bag. Using it is as simple as can be: just drag any board item you want to save and drop it right onto the Inventory icon. Poof! It's safely tucked away.
To retrieve an item, simply tap on the Inventory to open it, then drag the item you want back onto an empty space on your board. This safe-keeping is crucial because it protects items from being accidentally merged or sold.
What Items Should You Keep in Your Inventory?
A smart player doesn't store items randomly. Your Inventory space is precious, so you should reserve it for your most valuable and important items. Here's what the pros always store:
- Inactive Producers: This is a top-tier strategy. If you aren't currently working on tasks for a specific producer (like the Lighthouse), there is no reason for it to occupy a valuable board spot. Our guide on storing producers explains this in detail. Store it in your Inventory until you need it again.
- High-Level Reward Chests: Got a big blue Energy Chest or a Ruby Chest? Don't open it right away. Store it, and wait until you have another one to merge it with for a bigger prize. Keeping them in your Inventory prevents board clutter.
- Rare Boosters: Game-changing boosters like Jokers and Splitters are rare and incredibly powerful. The last thing you want is to use one by accident. Keep them safely stored in your Inventory until you're ready to deploy them strategically.
- High-Level Task Items: Imagine you just created a max-level item for a task, but you need to clear a few smaller tasks first. Instead of letting that valuable item clog your board, store it in your Inventory until you're ready to turn it in.
How to Get More Space in Your Inventory
When you first start, your Inventory has a very limited number of slots. You'll quickly find that you need more room for your strategic hoarding! Thankfully, you can purchase more storage space.
To upgrade, open your Inventory and tap on one of the locked slots marked with a "+". The game will prompt you to purchase the new slot using Diamonds. The cost in diamonds increases with each new slot you buy.
Is it worth it? Absolutely. In fact, spending your diamonds on Inventory space is widely considered the single best investment you can make in the game. More storage leads to better board management, which directly translates to faster progress. It's far more valuable than spending diamonds to speed up timers.
When to Store vs. When to Sell
When your board is full, you face a choice: store an item or sell it? Here's a simple rule to follow:
Store it if it's rare, valuable, or hard to replace. This includes producers, boosters, and high-level items from long merge chains.
Sell it if it's a common item you can easily create again. For example, if your board is overrun with low-level shells and you have no use for them, selling a few is a great way to make space and earn some quick coins.
By treating your Inventory as a key part of your strategy, you'll keep your board clean, protect your most valuable assets, and set yourself up for long-term success in Travel Town.
