How to Get Merge Items in Travel Town?
The essential guide to getting items from producers, understanding merge chains, and creating the high-level items you need to complete tasks.

The Foundation: Producers
Every mergeable item in Travel Town originates from a "Producer." Producers are the special objects on your board that you can tap to generate items. Examples include the Old Well, the Lighthouse, the Fishing Net, and many more that you'll unlock as you upgrade your town. For a full breakdown of all producers, see our comprehensive Travel Town Producers Guide.
To get items from a producer, you simply tap on it. This action consumes energy and causes the producer to spit out one or more low-level items onto your board. For instance, tapping the Fishing Net might produce a Small Shellfish or a Piece of Coral.
Understanding Merge Chains
Once you have items from a producer, you need to merge them. A "merge chain" is the sequence of items you create by repeatedly merging identical objects. Each producer has its own unique merge chains.
Example of a Merge Chain (Fishing Net):
- Tap the Fishing Net to get Small Shellfish.
- Merge two Small Shellfish to create a Clam.
- Merge two Clams to create a Starfish.
- Merge two Starfish to create a Jellyfish.
- ...and so on, until you reach the highest-level item in that chain.
Your main goal in the game is to learn these merge chains so you can efficiently create the specific items requested by the townspeople in their tasks.
Where to Get Items Besides Producers
While producers are the primary source, there are a few other ways to get mergeable items:
- Chests: Tool chests, which you often get as rewards, contain parts for upgrading your producers. These parts are themselves mergeable items.
- The Shop: The daily deals section of the shop will often sell specific items for coins or diamonds. This can be useful if you're stuck and just need one more item to complete a merge.
- Event Rewards: Some events will reward you with high-level items directly, saving you the effort of merging them yourself.
- Bubbles: Sometimes when you merge, a bonus item will appear in a bubble. You can pay a small amount of diamonds to pop the bubble and claim the item.
Tips for Efficient Item Generation
- Upgrade Your Producers: Higher-level producers have a better chance of dropping higher-level items, which saves you energy and merge steps. Always prioritize merging producer parts to upgrade them.
- Manage Your Energy: Don't just tap producers mindlessly. Look at what items you need for your tasks and focus on the producers that create those items.
- Keep Your Board Organized: A messy board makes it hard to see potential merges. Try to keep items from the same merge chain grouped together. If you run out of space, use the pouch at the bottom for temporary storage or sell unneeded items for a quick energy boost.
Mastering how to get and manage your merge items is the core skill in Travel Town. By understanding how producers and merge chains work, you'll be able to complete tasks faster, earn more rewards, and rebuild your town in record time.
